Our Range of Services Include - Complete Oral Exams & Gentle Cleanings for Adults & Children: We have 3 hygienists, professionally trained to give our patients a thorough, gentle cleaning & provide patients with the knowledge they need to prevent dental diseases such as periodontal (gum) disease, tooth decay & the effects of clenching and grinding of the dentition. Most healthy children & adults need 2 cleanings a year, some may require more. When we clean your teeth we remove plaque and tartar deposits that cause cavities. We will also perform a gum evaluation including an oral cancer screening & polish your teeth. A fluoride treatment is generally recommended for prevention. With complete x-rays & our intra oral video imaging, our doctors will perform a comprehensive exam informing you of your current dental condition & what restorative services may be needed to strengthen & protect your teeth & enhance your smile. When patients present themselves to our office with existing gum disease and or bone loss, the hygienist’s will perform a specialized cleaning in those diseased areas so our patients may retain their teeth for a longer period of time. Our patients are also instructed on proper home care. Sealants: Sealants are used on the chewing surfaces of molars of children & young teens to help prevent tooth decay. It is a thin plastic coating and does not require any drilling and can not normally be seen when a child smiles because they are usually applied on the back teeth & are clear or white in color. Sealants are a great idea for your child’s molars and should be applied shortly after the molars erupt, to help avoid decay. They normally last between 5 & 10 years. They are a painless way to help protect your children’s teeth. Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry: If a portion of a tooth is decayed or missing, our doctors may recommend a variety of restorative procedures including amalgams & tooth colored fillings, crowns, bridges, partials & dentures. Amalgams & Bonding – Amalgams or silver fillings were the restoration of choice for many years to fill teeth after decay was removed and in many cases still are preferable depending on the location of the decay. Thanks to advances in modern dental materials and techniques, teeth can be restored with a more aesthetic & natural appearance with bonding (tooth colored fillings). Bonding makes your teeth look natural when you laugh & smile. Bonding blends well with other teeth thus they are usually recommended especially for teeth near the front of your mouth. Crowns – Dental crowns, sometimes called “caps”, are used to rebuild broken or decayed teeth or for a better cosmetic appearance to a tooth. Crowns are made of metal or porcelain and fully cover the tooth to the gum line. Bridges – If you are missing teeth and have good oral hygiene, a dental bridge may be what you need. A dental bridge is a false tooth which is fused between two or more surrounding teeth to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. Bridges are made of porcelain to match the color of your natural teeth and are not removable because they are cemented in place. Bridgework allows you to avoid that sunken-in appearance caused by missing teeth and stabilizes that area of the dental arch to give you a more youthful appearance, allowing you to smile once more with confidence. Partials – If you are missing one or more teeth partial dentures may be the right solution for you. A partial is one or more porcelain replacement teeth attached to a metal framework and is removable. We will work to properly fit your partial so that it is custom-made for a more comfortable fit for your mouth. Dentures – The complete denture is the treatment option for the patient who has lost all of his or her teeth or will be having the remaining teeth extracted. The complete denture will give the patient a natural appearance as well as function for chewing food. Dentistry For Children: We offer a wide variety of treatment options for your child. We always take the time to explain to both the child and the parent what treatment is needed & how it will be done. Some parents are choosing to schedule a dental consultation when their child is age 1, to discuss nutritional counseling & dental development. Generally, when a child reaches the age of 3 or is having a tooth problem prior to the age of 3, a parent should arrange for the child’s dental checkup. Parents are always allowed in the treatment room upon their request. As the child reaches about 4 years and older, it is recommended that the children go by themselves. A parent allowing the child to be treated by themselves is a statement of confidence in the doctors and staff and allows the child to form a relationship with the doctors. It is very important for the parent not to instill any type of dental fear into the child. The doctors will walk your child through each procedure with information so the child experiences no surprises and will build trust with the doctor on their own.
